The story of our success is there in the Martinborough landscape. Sun-baked hills. An old river plain network of waterfalls. A loamy free-draining soil. Qualities which place a high premium value on the grapes grown and harvested, and are part of the reason why this is one of the most exciting wine producing regions in New Zealand. Add to that a belief in sound environmental practices, an equal devotion to crafted wine, a desire to be among the best boutique wineries in the world, and you find yourself at the door of Palliser Wines. Since Palliser Estate Wines was established, quality has come to characterise the culture surrounding the making of excellent wine. Our aim from the beginning has been to produce top quality wines which are international in appeal. Palliser produces two labels that are recognized around the world for quality: Palliser Estate and Pencarrow. From the outset the winery has displayed leadership in developing systems that require us to identify all environmental impacts, set targets and objectives, and to review regularly our environmental and business performance. In 1995, Palliser Estate was the first winery in New Zealand to achieve ISO 9002 certification. In 1998, Palliser Estate, along with Martinborough Vineyard, C.J. Pask Winery and Vidal Estate, were the first in the world to be certified to International Environmental Standard ISO 14001. Accolades received both domestically and internationally would suggest we have got the mix of landscape, environmental management and viticulture right. Gold at the London International Wine Challenge and the trophy for our Sauvignon Blanc are among Palliser's most prestigious awards to date. Palliser Estate wine is also the choice of a number of top international airlines; among these are: Emirates Airline, Lufthansa and KLM. Air New Zealand, itself an award winning airline, reserves Palliser Estate wines for their first class and business class passengers. As well, Palliser Estate Wines are found on the wine list of some of the most prestigious restaurants around the world.A recent example of this global appeal occurred at the Restaurant Zeleste in Copenhagen where Palliser Estate wine was the wine of choice among an international delegation.
