Suburban Wines & Spirits Shipping Policy
The purchase of alcohol by persons under the age of 21 is prohibited by law. You must be at least 21 years of age to purchase wine or spirits. By placing an order through our website, you are representing yourself to us as at least 21 years of age and that the person to whom it is being shipped is at least 21 years of age. We reserve the right to ask for proof of identity before processing an order.
Title to the wine you order passes to you as soon as it leaves our doors; it is up to you to know the relevant laws in your state.
An adult signature with proof of age verification is required at time of delivery. Please be aware that someone over the age of 21 must be available to sign for the package. If no one is available at the time of delivery, the package will not be left. We cannot ship wine to PO Boxes or APO addresses.
Carrier and DeliveryTimes
We ship Ground, Next Day Air, and 2nd Day Air via UPS and FedEx:
- Ground Service - approximately 1-6 business days in transit
- 2nd Day Air - 2 business days in transit
- Next Day Air - 1 business day in transit
All orders will be confirmed via e-mail and processed within 1 business day. We will contact you by the end of the next business day if there are any problems with your order. You will be promptly notified by email of any unexpected delays in processing.
Please be aware that we will always err on the side of caution when it comes to shipping out your wine in foul weather. Our shipping manager, Bobby Ulfsson, always checks the weather report of the destination to ensure that your wine is shipped in the best possible conditions. We will hold your wine, at no additional cost, until the weather is appropriate.
Local delivery is FREE for online orders of $100 (excluding sales tax) or more. The following cities/towns are part of our local delivery area: Yorktown Heights, Somers, Katonah, Bedford Hills and Mt. Kisco (more towns coming soon). Deliveries are made in the afternoons and evenings (usually Monday - Thursday). Orders placed after 10:00 AM on Thursday will be delivered the following week.
While it is our goal to deliver your order within two days of receiving it. At times we will need to delay delivery so that we can consolidate it with other deliveries in your area. We will contact you to ensure that you will be home during the delivery. Canceled orders are subject to a 20% cancellation fee.
Please note that ALL deliveries require an adult (over 21) to be home to accept delivery and sign. We do not accept phone orders for free delivery.
Orders placed on this website are not final. Your credit card is not charged automatically. A charge is put on your credit card after the product has been packed and the order is deemed complete. Please note that all credit cards are verified. You must provide a billing address that corresponds to the credit card you are using. If the billing address does not match the credit card you will be informed and the order will not be processed until we hear from you.
Shipping and Handling Costs
The shipping costs are automatically calculated at the time the order is placed. If you would like to know the shipping cost to a particular area, please select your items and enter your zip code in the shopping cart. Prices of our wines do not include shipping/handling charges, which vary depending on destination, number of bottles ordered and choice of delivery options.
Transfer of Ownership & Damage
Shipment is available by ground or air Monday through Friday.
Suburban Wine & Spirits does not, as a business, ship wine outside of New York State. We are happy, however, to coordinate shipment of your wine, by you. By authorizing shipment of your wine, you are allowing Suburban to engage a third party common carrier on your behalf. We provide all shipping coordination as a free service and do not profit from any shipping arrangements we make for you. Insurance will be added to ALL shipments at an additional charge unless you assume all responsibility for breakage during shipment.
Title on all Wine passes to the buyer at the time of purchase in the state of New York. If you require that your wine be shipped, you authorize Suburban Wine & Spirits to engage a common carrier to deliver the wine on your behalf. IF YOU CHOOSE TO SHIP YOUR WINE TO A NON-RECIPROCAL STATE, YOU ASSUME ALL RESPONSILITY FOR COMPLYING WITH YOUR STATE'S LAWS REGARDING ALCOHOL SHIPMENTS.
Again, you must be 21 years of age to order or receive alcoholic beverages from Suburban Wine & Spirits. Any shipments containing alcoholic beverages are sent with an "Adult Signature Required" sticker, and the common carrier that delivers your merchandise is required to ask and check for identification upon delivery. This means that you will have to be present at the time of delivery.
Cancellations and Returns
All cancelled orders are subject to a 20% restocking fee. Wine Dinners and events are not refundable. Wines that we have special ordered for you are not returnable. All returns are for store credit only.
Your are reminded that various states impose limitations on the quantity of alcoholic beverages which may be purchased and brought into their jurisdiction without requiring the purchaser, the seller or the shipper to possess certain licenses or permits. Suburban Wine & Spirits, does NOT, as a condition of sale, assume any obligation nor bear any responsibility whatsoever for applying for or obtaining any such permits or licenses. Therefore, you are strongly advised to investigate such limitations and to determine the manner in which alcoholic beverages may lawfully be brought into states other than New York. Your are responsible for all applicable excise, use and sales taxes due to your state related to the purchase of any taxable goods.
Suburban Wine & Spirits makes no representation to the legal rights of anyone to ship or import wines into any state outside of New York. The Buyer is solely responsible for the shipment of wines and is responsible for any loss or damage to goods once they have left our premises. By placing an order, you authorize Suburban to act on your behalf to engage a common carrier to deliver your order to you.
