Cappelletti Description
The Cappelletti family has been producing tradition Italian spirits in Trentino, Italy for generations. In the late 1800s Giuseppe Cappelletti began studying medicinal herbs and traditional medicine. With his brothers, Giuseppe began his own business in 1909, selling herbal remedies. After WWI, the brothers began crafting extracts, infusions, and herbal elixirs. These new products proved to be a success for the family. After Giuseppe?s passing, his nephew Ferrante took over the business. The next generation took the Cappelletti name further crafting a line of grappa, liqueurs and spiced wines. By the late 1960?s, the company had really hit their stride. A call for more production forced them to expand their facilities multiple times. Today, Giuseppe?s grandson Gianpaolo and his children oversee the family business. The company, now in its 105th year, has become famous stateside for their Aperitivo ? a Campari competitor. In addition to this wine-based, herbal spirit, Cappelletti has very recently made their Amaro available in the U.S. Cappelletti?s Amaro Sfumato is a modern take on a classic style of Rabarbaro Amaro. Rabarbaro utilizes a special type of Chinese Rhubarb, that?s been growing Alto Adige and the Veneto for centuries. The bitterness of Rhubarb is complimented by Alpine herbs and berries. The term ?Sfumato? comes from the Italian word for smoke, describing the earthiness of the spirit. Tasting Notes: A wonderful digestif, this Amaro is delicate yet flavorful. Lighter on the palate than many other Amari, it shows sweet berry notes alongside elements of tangy rhubarb, cinnamon bark and eucalyptus. Refreshingly dry on the finish, this sipper is perfect when served before or after a big meal!
